Applications are invited for Engineering Workers for Temporary Full-Time and Casual assignments in the Engineering Operations Division of the Engineering, Parks and Environment Department.  The successful candidates will perform a variety of manual duties including water, sewer and storm installation, repair and maintenance.  Road construction and maintenance tasks and other physical duties may also be assigned. 

RATE OF PAY:              $27.13 per hour (2015 C.U.P.E. rates)

HOURS OF WORK:       Temporary Full- Time hours are 40 hours per week 
                                    Casual hours are up to 40 hours per week 

Temporary Full Time employees are paid 6% of their regular earnings in lieu of paid vacation and become eligible for benefits after 6 months of continuous employment.     Casual employees are paid 12% of their regular earnings in lieu of benefits and paid vacation.   

The successful candidates will have Grade 12 plus experience in general construction and maintenance. A valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License is required. Applications are invited for Casual Clerk Typist 3 assignments at the City of Langley in the Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department providing coverage for vacation, illness and other absences.  The Clerk Typist 3 is responsible for clerical and public relation duties which involve interacting with instructors, user groups, community organizations and the general public. 

RATE OF PAY:            Pay Grade 12:  $25.09 – $26.07 (2015 C.U.P.E rates)

HOURS OF WORK:    *Up to 35 hours per week 
                                 *Will vary according to need and length of assignment 
                                 *Monday to Sunday including days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends

Casual employees are paid 12% of their regular earnings in lieu of paid annual vacation.

Applications are invited for the Temporary Full-Time position of Parking Enforcement Officer in the Administration Department at the City of Langley.  Reporting to the Chief Bylaw Enforcement Officer, this position involves enforcing parking regulations under the City’s Traffic Regulation Bylaw and the Motor Vehicle Act. The successful Candidate will walk City streets and parking lots, in all weather conditions, chalking tires where parking signs designate time limits and on subsequent tours, ticketing offending vehicles.   This position will begin as soon as possible and will conclude on October 27, 2017.

RATE OF PAY:            Pay Grade 15: $26.61 to $27.85 per hour (2015 C.U.P.E Rates)

HOURS OF WORK:     40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.*) 
                                                      *Hours of work per the Letter of Understanding

Temporary full-time employees are paid 6% of their regular earnings in lieu of paid annual vacation.

The successful candidate will have Grade 12 supplemented by training in bylaw enforcement, experience in the field of investigations or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Applications are invited for the Regular Full-Time position of Engineering Assistant 2 to work in the Engineering, Parks and Environment Department.   Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Services, the successful applicant will review detailed design plans, contract documents and technical specifications; oversee construction projects; and complete complex technical work involving surveying, data analysis, and field inspections to ensure that work performed and materials produced by and for the City of Langley conform to specifications. 

RATE OF PAY:            Pay Grade 25:  $35.55 to $37.69

HOURS OF WORK:    35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

The incumbent will have considerable knowledge of engineering principles and practices including materials and equipment used.  A Diploma in Engineering Technology or a field relevant to the position from a recognized institution and at least 5 years’ experience in municipal engineering,   or an equivalent combination of training and experience is desired. Applications are invited for Casual Recreation Worker 5’s in the Recreation, Culture & Community Services Department at the City of Langley.  We are looking for enthusiastic fitness instructors for a variety of group fitness classes and group weight training.  The successful candidate will design and instruct safe, effective and appropriate fitness programs to meet the needs of different demographics and programs. Fitness classes will be developed to promote safety, fun, enthusiasm, strength and a healthy lifestyle.  

RATES OF PAY:         Recreation Worker 5:  $25.49 - $29.74 
        
HOURS OF WORK:    Up to 40 hours per week; Monday to Sunday. 
                                 *Hours of work will depend on programing and operational needs.
  
Casual employees are paid 12.5% of their regular earnings in lieu of benefits and paid annual vacation.

Applications are invited for the Temporary full-time position of Clerk Typist 3 to work in the Emergency Management Program based at the City of Langley’s Fire Department.  The Clerk Typist 3 reports to the City of Langley Fire Chief and will work with the Emergency Management Program Co-ordinator and Volunteers providing administrative support in the Emergency Management Program for both Langley City and the Township of Langley.  This assignment is from August 8, 2017 to December 1, 2017 and may be extended.

RATE OF PAY:             Pay Grade 12:  $25.85 to $26.86 per hour 

HOURS OF WORK:      35 hours per week

Temporary full-time employees are paid 6% of their regular earnings in lieu of paid annual vacation.

The successful candidate will have superior computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.  Knowledge of Adobe, Aggresso, Open Text (eDOCS DM) and social media such as Facebook and Twitter is an asset.  Knowledge of Emergency Management B.C. and Emergency Social Services policy and procedures; and experience with volunteer coordination would be an asset.
