Updated Zoning Bylaw to Promote Densification

The City of Langley is pleased to introduce revised zoning regulations to Bylaw No. 2730, effective June 24th, 2008, which will effectively lessen restrictions on developers and create more opportunities for increased density in new multi-family residential developments.

The Zoning Bylaw change further supports the City's vision for the future as identified in its Downtown Master Plan as well as in the Colliers International Multi Family Zoning Review Study prepared on behalf of the City of Langley. The vision entails greater mixed-use, residential/commercial density and an enhanced downtown area. This type of development will bring more people into the area throughout the day and nighttime hours, thus creating a safer and more vibrant city centre. Ultimately, the increased density will strengthen the economic success of local businesses, lead to enhanced public transit and improve the overall attractiveness of the community for residents, businesses and visitors alike.

The City of Langley is dedicated to supporting the development industry in making its new vision of the future come true. Mayor Peter Fassbender states that “the City of Langley Council and staff are committed to supporting developers and to helping property owners to see our community move forward. With an exciting vision for the future, a progressive attitude and a commitment to timely approvals, the City of Langley will continue its reputation as ... ‘The Place to Be!’”
