Point of Pride Program

What is it?

Point of Pride is a program that empowers Individuals and Volunteer groups to keep their neighbourhoods litter free, one Street, one Park and one Trail at a time. It is a collaborative initiative for individuals and groups to participate in to keep the City of Langley beautiful! There are 4 community parks, 12 neighbourhood parks, 2 trails, 4 brooks, 5 creeks, 1 lagoon and a river meandering through 422 acres of park and open space. By adopting a Street, a Park or a Trail you can contribute to the beautification of our unique city.

Why Adopt?

Because it’s a good thing! You get out, get active and connect with your community; it reduces litter pick up costs which saves tax payers money; it makes a visible impact on the local environment; it helps build group, neighbourhood and community pride; it increases property values and it frees up maintenance crews to perform other tasks.

How do I get involved?

It’s very simple. Download an application (Point of Pride Application Form), decide which Street, Park or Trail you’d like to adopt, indicate it on the application along with other pertinent information and submit it! Or, stop by Timms Community Centre and pick up an application. Keep in mind that Streets, Parks and Trails are assigned on a first come first served basis, so it’s important to confirm that your area of preference is available.

Three Options to Submit your completed form:

What does the City of Langley provide?

Some very cool stuff! We provide a Point of Pride Adoption Package that includes: litter bags, litter tongs, Point of Pride t-shirt(s), hand sanitizer and gloves. We also provide garbage pick-up, liability insurance and signage (depending on level of commitment).

What are the Volunteer Responsibilities?

Once the Street, Trail or Park location has been established the Volunteer(s) commit to a minimum number of hours per month to maintenance of that particular area. This could include pick-up of litter and weeds, trimming of brush, graffiti removal, clearing of waterways etc. A Volunteer Time Log will need to be submitted monthly by email, fax or dropped off at Timms Community Centre. As well you will be required to report any damage.
