Langley Seniors Community Action Table


The Langley Seniors Community Action Table (LSCAT) is a group of community members, service organizations and agencies who have come together to facilitate seniors' mobilization, leadership and involvement in our community.

The LSCAT also seeks to support citizens and service organizations to collaboratively recognize and respond to local issues and opportunities, share information and resources, build partnerships and create a common place from which to act as a collective voice for seniors in Greater Langley. We are actively seeking new members.... if you are senior looking for a way to become involved in your community and take some action in resolving some of the issues Seniors in our community are facing, please check us out!

This is an entry level exercise program for those with balance and mobility challenges who would otherwise be unable to attend a community based exercise class.  Created in collaboration with Fraser Health Falls Prevention initiative, Fraser Health Specialized Geriatric Clinics and Osteofit, this program is designed to improve strenth, balance and coordination leading to more independence and quality of life.

About Osteofit:  Osteofit is a BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre certified exercise, education and falls pevention program for individuals with osteoporosis, low bone density or who are at risk of fractures and falls.  In combination with medicaton and nutrition, exercise is a proven effective treatment option.



Osteofit For Life  is designed for those who have completed Level 1 Osteofit or are regular exercisers with some previous experience with weight training equipment.  This program is perfect for those who are ready to continue with an Osteofit program as part of a healthy, active lifestyle.

For those whor are ready for a more challengilng osteofit experience.  Still a low impact class but more callenging exercises for improving balance and strength.  Must have instructr's permission to take part in this program.

ZUMBA GOLD     Picture---Zumba-GoldCalling all baby boomers (and beyond)!  Zumba Gold offers modified Zumba moves at a comfortable pace while still keeping with the zesty Latin music.  This is an invigorating party-like workout that will leave you smiling and feeling energized for the entire day.

Specially designed for beginners, active older population and for those who have cognitve and/or physical challenges.  This low impact dance-fitness class feels friendly and most of all fun.  Participants will learn easy steps to move with the music using their own abilities.  Express yourself while getting exercise and having the time of your life!  Drop-ins welcome if space permits

Be young at heart, body & soul!  In a relaxed, social setting learn the proper techniques to weight train for your health.  Your certified personal trainer will guide you through the proper use of equipment and set you up onan appropriate, safe weight traing routine to help you reach optimal health and well being.  Weight training will increase joint mobility and flexibility while strengthening your core muscles and allowing for better stability.
