The City of Langley has created a clear, concise and realistic vision for the community over the past five years and has marketed that concept aggressively. Mayor Fassbender stated that 'the intent of our Downtown Master Plan is to create an exciting vision for the redevelopment of Downtown Langley that will serve as a catalyst for generating new investment and creating additional vitality. We've let the world know where we want to go and that we're open for business".
The Downtown Master Plan has attracted $160.8 million worth of construction projects that are either recently completed or currently underway, such as the "Varsity" project marketed by Bob Rennie, Rennie Marketing Systems, for Peter Redekop, Redekop Kroeker Development Inc. The Downtown Master Plan has been recognized as an award-winning innovative plan by both the Economic Development Association of B.C. (EDABC) and the Planning Institute of British Columbia (PIBC).
The City also unveiled their most recent promotional initiative, in partnership with Tourism Langley. This five-minute segment is part of the "Profiles with Terry Bradshaw" series and showcases the City to a regional and national audience in both Canada and the United States to further attract business, investment and tourism and to promote the City of Langley as "The Place to Be!"
