Downtown Businesses Accessibility Status:

With the assistance of a grant from Service Canada, the Downtown Langley Merchants Association was able to hire a summer student to complete audits of downtown businesses to determine their accessibility status. Thirty seven businesses were audited between June and September 2008, and each business was given a rating according to an audit process created by SPARC BC (Social Planning and Research Council of British Columbia). As a result of these audits, the “Gold Star Program” was created. This program is designed to assist our guests and customers in determining the best places to shop, eat, stay and find services in our unique downtown. By rating each businesses according to accessibility, those individuals with mobility aids, scooters and baby strollers can see at a glance where these businesses are located, their accessibility rating and what services they offer.
