Rudy was born to Dutch immigrant parents in 1954 and raised in the Fraser Valley.  Langley City has been Rudy's home since 1983.  Rudy has worked at the credit union, the vacuum store and the coffeehouse here, in Langley City.  As well as volunteering with local service organizations and community groups, Rudy is a licensed Realtor (since 1993), a member the Canada Real Estate Association, the BC Real Estate Association and the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board.  Rudy has the “Realtor’s Make Good Neighbours” Award for 2004.  As a Realtor, Rudy has a good working knowledge of every neighbourhood in the Langley City community.  Rudy knows what people want, where they live, because people talk with him about it, every day.

Rudy knows that a strong local economy is the foundation for a good quality of life that allows us to invest back into our community with our time and our resources. A prosperous city has low crime, good jobs, solid infrastructure and affordable housing in safe neighbourhoods, near excellent schools and clean parks, with practical transportation options, as well as easy access to popular amenities and excellent health care.

Rudy wants to contribute to real and responsible representation at City Council.  Rudy supports the Langley City Master Plan for redevelopment and growth without leaving anyone behind.  Rudy says that: "City Council must be persistent in protecting community assets, consistent in responding to issues and diligent in preparing for our future with more and better services".

"Together, we can share fresh ideas to develop effective strategies and work with new technology to stay connected and prepare for a future with a better quality of life."
