It has been a sincere honour to serve the citizens of Langley City for the past three years and I appreciate the faith you have put in me for the next three. I will do my best to ensure that you are heard and that you continue to live in a community that you can be proud of.
As a result of my first term on council and my continued involvement in our community, I have gained a genuine understanding of the needs and challenges facing our City. I will continue to make a positive difference on City Council and use this knowledge to deal with important issues as they arise.
We are experiencing tremendous growth throughout the lower mainland, and with this growth come the associated problems of homelessness, drugs, increased crime, transportation issues and pressure on our fragile infrastructure. These are concerns that we have not had to face head-on until now, and there is no “one size fits all” solution.
Increased policing and emphasis on safety issues and crime prevention is my number one priority, but I feel it is also important to strive for the right balance that allows for continued economic development. Densification is what will enable us to keep your taxes lower, make the community vibrant and maintain the quality of life for the residents who live here.
Major investment in our infrastructure is essential to the health of our community. Fortunately, we have amazing staff working for our city who plan for our community’s infrastructure needs, thereby allowing us as City Council to continue budgeting in a way that keeps your taxes at a reasonable level.
I am proud to be raising my family in this community, and whether you are a long time resident or have just moved here, I know you will agree that the City of Langley is a wonderful place to live.
