Born in Toronto in 1947, Jack moved to Vancouver in 1969 and to Langley in 1977. He was first elected to City Council in 1990 and has now served for 18 years.
Jack is a former member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, a former Langley City businessman and served on the City’s Advisory Planning Committee for 2 years before his election to office. In addition to his current appointments, Jack has also served on the Airport Advisory Committee, the Langley Arts Council, the Fraser Valley Board of Health, the Langley Heritage Committee, the Langley Christmas Bureau and the Millennium Celebration Committee. He has also represented the City at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities on the Community Safety and Crime Prevention Committee, the Municipal Finance and Intergovernmental Arrangements Committee, the Convention Planning Committee and the International Relations Committee.
A political independent, Jack is not a member of any political party or slate of candidates. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 21 and the Langley City Parks Foundation. Jack has been involved with local youth for many years including drop-in sports and coaching football and roller hockey.
Jack was a winner of the 2003/2004 Award of Excellence from the Government of Canada and was also a recipient of the Queens Jubilee Medal for his public and community service.
