A dye test that will be conducted on the Nicomekl River by Environment Canada on Friday November 20, 2009. The test will begin at approximately 10:15 AM.
The dye will be brilliant green in colour and will enter the Nicomekl River in the Township of Langley immediately north of 48th Avenue between 228th Street and 232nd Street. The dye is then expected to follow the River downstream through the Cities of Langley and Surrey and into Mud Bay.

The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative is a U.S. law that requires all travelers, including Canadian citizens, to present a valid passport or other secure document when traveling to the U.S. from within the Western Hemisphere. On June 1, 2009 document requirements for travel by land and water to the U.S. will be implemented. It is important to note that there are no changes to the entry or re-entry requirements into Canada.

Langley City Council endorsed initial comments on the proposed new Regional Growth Strategy at its Regular Meeting on March 23, 2009. The City’s comments were forwarded to Metro Vancouver on March 24, 2009 in a letter from Mayor Fassbender (see link below).
Metro Vancouver will be hosting a series of public meetings regarding the Draft Regional Growth Strategy throughout the region in April and May. A public meeting for the Langley area is scheduled as follows:

August 18 - Notice to Motorists: 200th Street Watermain and Roadworks Project between 56th Avenue and Fraser Highway
Motorists are advised that over the next 2 weeks the City of Langley’s contractor, Imperial Paving Ltd., will be installing a new watermain to replace the existing watermain and resurfacing the roadway, between 56th Avenue and Fraser Highway. Lane closures will be in effect during this period and motorists are required to be aware of flagpersons and be cautious of heavy equipment and construction workers. In order to avert delays motorists should consider alternate routes.

2008 RCMP Jr. Cadet Camp
The Community Police Offices will be hosting the third annual RCMP Junior Cadet Camp at James Hill Elementary from Tuesday July 15th until Thursday July 17th. Its three days of learning about the RCMP and other fun activities including Drill and Police Dog Service. There is no charge for children between the ages of 8-12. Children may apply in person at any one of the five Community Police Offices in Langley. Space is limited so interested parties should apply ASAP as all applications are handled on a first come first served basis.
